Washington's Milledge placed on DL with groin injury

06/28/2008 - Washington, DC (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Washington Nationals center fielder Lastings Milledge was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right groin injury after sliding on the warning track to cut off a ball and getting his foot lodged under the wall in the third inning against Baltimore on Saturday.

Milledge grimaced as he came up with the ball. He took his time walking off the field accompanied by the trainer, but under his own power, and was holding his groin as he approached the dugout. Willie Harris replaced Milledge in center field.

To fill his spot on the roster the Nationals recalled center fielder Roger Bernadina from Double-A Harrisburg. Bernadina, who has never appeared in a major league game, is batting .325 with five homers, seven triples, 26 stolen bases and 38 runs batted in for Harrisburg.

A base-hit by Milledge in the first inning scored Christian Guzman, giving the Nationals a 1-0 lead, but the Orioles scored nine unanswered runs to come away with the win.
